The denomination "materials chemistry and coating technology" refers to the fact that materials such as coating materials, adhesives, coatings and other materials, that can be regarded as organic building materials, are a central component of the training in the professional specialization of colour technology and interior design. Accordingly, the research is oriented towards the material science aspects as well as the didatic question of teaching such contents.
In addition to these scientific-technical aspects, design aspects are also dealt with.
The research currently include in particular:
- Access to fundamentals of natural sciences and materials science by means of digitalised experiments
- Coated industrial floors: materials, durability and damage
- Material science analyses of hydrophobic substances
- Design projects on concrete tasks from residential and industrial areas
